"Radiomusiken" on Ö1: Performed by the RSO under the direction of Ernst Theis.

On the occasion of World Radio Day on February 13th, the broadcaster presented a musical journey through the works of Kurt Weill. Under the direction of JAM MUSIC LAB Professor Ernst Theis, the Radio Symphony Orchestra delivered an engaging musical performance.

The program featured works from Weill's time in Germany, spanning the late 1920s to those composed in his American exile from 1940 onwards. All the pieces were specifically composed for the medium of radio. What made the concert special was the sequencing of the pieces: first, the later compositions were performed, followed by the earlier ones. The common thread among all the pieces was that they were created specifically for radio. JMLU Professor Ernst Theis conducted the performance, and the concert program was complemented by a discussion where Theis provided insights into the intricacies and peculiarities of the compositions.
